In an instant, not only could one simple mistake end a worker’s life —
it could shatter the lives of those who love and depend on them.
It’s happened twice in the last three years, and now cops are cracking
down in work zones to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Below, the family of one of those workers shares their plea.
"My life was turned upside down the day state troopers knocked on my door to tell me the tragic news.
Nothing will bring Michael back, but I can hope that no one else has to go through the pain that my family
and I have endured over the past two years. Roadway workers put their lives on the line every day
to improve the roads we travel. Please don't text, don't use your cell phone, don't speed
and use your headlights. As the widow of a PA Turnpike maintenance worker I cannot stress
to people enough the importance of obeying traffic laws in work zones."
